Mike Roberts, Vice Chair

Mike is the Chief Human Resources Officer for energy and services corporation, Emera Inc., where he leads the people and organizational capacity strategy.  Previously, Mike was Vice President, Corporate Development for Irving shipbuilding where he was responsible for Communication, Human Resources, Labour Relations, Health and Safety and Security.  Mike had led the organization’s cultural shift to ready itself to successfully become one of Canada’s Shipbuilding Centres of Excellence and was integral to the formation of the ShipsStartHere partnership.  Prior to joining Irving Shipbuilding, Mike served as Vice President, Human Resources and Vice President, Regulatory and Government Affairs for Atlantic Canada’s largest telecommunications company, Bell Aliant.  Mike has also served on the Board of Directors of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

He is a graduate of Mount Allison University and obtained his Chartered Accountant designation in 1991.  Mike currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Waterfront Development Corporation and the Institute for Ocean Research Enterprise (IORE).  Mike lives in Bedford Nova Scotia with his wife, Ruth and two children.
